| | Bending Pewter Bird Feet to fit Bases Somewhere in the last year or so I've seen a discussion of bending those pewter or cast feet for carved birds, but I can't seem to locate the thread. Has anybody got tips on bending the feet (toes) without breaking them? I know it required some kind of heat, but I don't remember if it was boiling water, heat in an oven, propane torch..........
Help! Please!

| | Re: Bending Pewter Bird Feet to fit Bases That's what I thought; either that or the oven, and I didn't feel like baking feet!
Thanks for the reinforcement!

| | Re: Bending Pewter Bird Feet to fit Bases Al,
I am not a bird carver but I have the same problem. A friend of mine uncle who was a bird carver died suddenly and left behind an owl that was partly carved. Along with it a set of pewter feet. He asked me to finish the bird for him and I told him I would give it a try. This board is so great you asked a question I need the answer to as well. I was just reading your post and was thinking maybe we could post the same question to the bird carvers I am sure they would have the answer. Do you want to post it there or do you want me to.
