Heres my latest WIP a RB Merganser hen basswood . The head I carved a couple days ago the body I did today in a couple hours . This is the better half of a pair i'm doing for a client in Marylands Eastern Shore. The decoy is life size and will be a smoothie dont have the patients for burning feather detail no more. Ill post progress as I make some .Feel free to quiz me on any of my work or techniques etc glad to do it. Mitch |

Nice looking sawbill, Mitch! Those are some of my favorite birds.....pretty much the comics of the riverside. Looking forward to see him finished. Al |

Putting those feathers on there really does get tedious and making a smoothie is going back to historical decoys....isn't it? Nice looking carving Mitch.

Hi Mitch, As a confirmed smoothie carver I totally get your decision to leave the feather-burning alone. The head is outstanding and from the looks of it, I'd say it's a good bet that your work on the body will be just as great. Can't wait to follow your WIP! Mark |

Mitch you have inadvertantly answered a problem I was having with my Hoodie.....how much taper to have on the crest. From looking at your hen I can see how effectively the profile corresponds with the pattern.....THANKS By the way nice looking Merganser Hen....looking forward to seeing the finished paint job. Ken
