QUOTE=EvelynSpeaks;414497]Hello, I just wanted to do post my first post here as I am new to carving. I have only been at it about 6 months and love it. I made a trout and a woodpecker that I am happy with and looking to do a bear in the round for my coffee table. Anyone have any patterns? I sure appreciate any suggestions or help.
And girlcarver glad to know there is another lady out here too plus all the great men who are great at carving![/QUOTE]

Evelyn....

Check out this Gene Webb video on You Tube.... YouTube - Smoky Mountain Black Bear with a Pocketknife It's really more of a caricature but you can very easily change it to a real life with detail.

Mike Shipley or any wood carving suppliers. His books are everywhere and protected by copyrights. If you're really talented you can download a photo of one of his bears from here on the forum and use it as a pattern but Mike and other folks like the Bishops work to hard to make a living and deserve a few rubles for their efforts now and then!
