I suggest you browse gift shops for animal figurines. Bear figures are quite easy to find and they pose tirelessly as you study them and carve. When I carve a bear I have 5 or 6 figurines that pose for me. No, I don't copy them! I use them to study leg dimensions relative to body length, hair flow direction, space between ears relative to head size, etc. For a carver there is nothing like seeing it in the round. Here is a recent one on a poplar staff.

THANKS ! I HAD JUST YESTERDAY BOUGHT A FIGURINE ! I THOUGHT MAYBE PATTERNS THAT I COULD ENLARGE OR DOWN SIZE WOULD BE BETTER FOR ME , BUT NOW YOUR ADVICE HAS GIVEN ME THE CONFIDENCE I NEEDED ! Try Google images. Here's one that looks nice. Just put in Bear Head under images and you get a ton of selections.
