Default basswood elephant

I just did this the other day. I forgot to take a picture after I stained it, but I used a natural stain, so it pretty much looks the same. It's 2 inches long by an inch and a half high by an inch thick.

Terry,
I think the elephant is one of your best carvings to date.

I would like to see a picture taken at an angle to the elephant; instead of from the side.

In the picture it looks pink, I haven't seen any of those for many years.

Keep it up, you are making good progress.

Unfortunately(or fortunately for my wallet), I sold the elephant. I'm going to do another one soon. I started making patterns on index cards and cutting them out for easy transferral to wood.

Pink elephants? Benn quite awhile since I've seen one of them myself, and then it was wrasslin' a purple alligator

Wonderful carving and he looks pink to me too. I like it that way. If it's not really pink, you may consider doing that on purpose for your next one.

What's funny s some of the pieces of basswood I have do have a pinkish tint to them, but once I use Minwax natural stain on them, they turn a real nice golden color. That's one thing I like about wood, the color is not always 100% uniform.
