Default Antique Style Canvasback

Hey folks,
This is a 1930's Style Lake Erie Canvasback Decoy (contemporary antique) that I recently finished. The decoy is made in Atlantic White Cedar, the body is solid and the head is doweled and "toe nailed" with antique "cut" nails through the neck at four points of contact into the neck. The joint is further backed with Tite Bond III. The decoy is painted in artist's oils, and is appropriately antiqued to reflect the "wear" associated with decades spent in the gunning environment.

The keel is of an internal lead ballast design and was made with two attachment points for use on a single anchor or gang rigged. The bottom of the decoy is branded with my "makers mark" and is signed and dated.

Mark,
I appreciate your thoughts on my work. I focus mainly on decoys that reflect the rich heritage of waterfowling history. Take care.

Very nice, Mike.
I really like this "antique" type of decoy carving.
While I know that modern "duplicating-nature"style of decoys get a lot of praise, artistically, my eye likes the more stylized/impressionistic look of this type of decoy.

Your is lovely.

All the best,

Russ
