Great carving and a great thread. The bird is beautiful and I know you are going to do a great job. Painting is the hardest part for me too. I had my wife take a painting class with me with Jim Sprankle. It did not work out, she did not like feather flicking and stuff like that, so I have to do it myself.

Have you tried using a airbrush? A lot easier than conventional brushes for applying the base colors then use a conventional brush for the details. Mix your paint with flow medium always to the consistancy of milk or cream. I use the Badger 100SG And I use it on all my work and teach it in my seminars. Try it, you might like it!!! Take a look at my carver gallery and see that all of my work is with a airbrush!! Good luck

Thx for the suggestions falconer. I have the notion that, for the stage I'm at, that I need to get some sense of mastrey down with the brush (and the paints of course). I DO intended to add an airbrush to my kit one of these days tho.
