Default Admiring and learning from the art of others.

The more I get into this form of art the more I appreciate the work/style of others. I have been inspired from the work of others and sometimes need that kick start to get back on track. I started saving pictures (for my own use) of what others have carved. I started a photo album on my computer. I renamed my file of pictures (like Bob’s picture) and moved non-carving pictures there, now I only put pictures of decoys in my picture file. I then set my screen saver to Photos. Now my computer shows me different decoy carvings across the screen, which inspires me, when it is idle.

Might consider joining National Wood Carvers Assoc. Their bi-monthly magazine is full of photos of others work and contests from all over. Lots of very good work and Ideas to be seen there. Once a year they have a sources of supply since the rest of the year there are no ads.

Hi Bob,One other idea, and something I do often... Check out decoy selling sites, I particularly like Guyette & Schmidt's site as it gives lots of antique dekes to get ideas from.Mark

I check eBay every single day for gorgeous decoys ... I print the ones I like the most.
