Default 3 d horse patterns

Good Morning Iwould like to locate some horse patterns that provide all views for 3 d carving. I particular a horse standing with one front leg bent up like you see on many horse sculptures. I have the Tom Wolfe book on horse carving but did not find what Iwas looking for. An Arabian horse pattern would be ideal. thanks r b dias

there are few books that ive found that have 3-D horse patterns-- and those that are there arent accurate-- remember that the head length from the poll to point of nose is very close to the width of shoulders- length of neck- depth of barrel-- length of upper leg-- and some other measurements-- arabs tend to have a short head and a dish face-- but the dimensions are still the same-- a draft horse is a bit heavier and a sheltand pony doesnt fit any of these dimensions-- stiller patterns used to heve a couple of 3-D patterns but i cannot find them now-- i use these proportions and my horses look ok, i think--i have a couple posted in "carver image galleries. your block of wood should be about 25 % wider than the head length--- turning the head or changing postion of the ears (back or forward) will change the profile of the blank- i use band saw blanks for my horse--ive been doing this 6 yrs or so-- and have decided that doing a pretty woman is easier than a horse. if u want some patterns-- send me a pm with your email and ill try to do something to help you.

Ian norbury has some plans for horses at a very reasonable price. I have used them for several of my horse carvings and use them for referencing.

Check them out at Ian Norbury Plans
