Default What was your favorite carving?

So what was everyone's favorite carving that they did? Was it something that you designed?

My all time favorite was a pair of bookends I did for a Christmas present. They were two little gnomes that were pushing the books to keep them from falling. It was my own design and I painted the gnomes and left the bases natural. Carved out of cherry.

And a picture of them would be where?? We'd love to see them, they sound great!
The joke around here is every single piece I finish I announce as my favorite. Think that's because I've been carving a short enough time that I can see improvement in each piece. You know, I get a little bolder, more confident and keep trying for more detail, expessions, etc. I have four more Santas to finish up, when I get them all done I'll decide then and tell you! I'm with you Callynne I can never determine which one is my favorite. When I did the native that was my favorite, now I'm doing the giant santa I am very excited about that. Too bad the remenants of Isabel are pounding us today looks as if my big santa will have to wait for today anyway

I agree with Nancy, the best one has to be the next one, or we would quit painting, carving etc and.....if we ever think we have produced our finest work..there would be no need to go on...!imho

I think my favorite is my flute ... not a whole lot of carving to it, but get a lot of enjoyment out of TRYING to play it.

I use to keep the best ones that Curtis carved and now we sell the ones we make, so I don't get to keep them and I like those we send to the Gallery the best.

Ill see if I can find photo of those bookends, but it was twelve years ago! By the way, I didn't say your best carving, I said your favorite carving. I've had better carvings since those, but I love those bookends, and hope to redo them someday.
