Default What are you working on?

Time to see what everyone is doing. Kids back to school, fresh ideas flowing with the Fall season, dragging yourself out of the Summer doldrums?

As well ...... what do you plan on doing over the winter, any special projects?

Right now, I'm trying to get some bunnies finished for some babies around here. My own new Granddaughter and our neighbour across the street has a new baby and another neighbour over back has a baby that will need to fill out her collection by Christmas.

Then there is some burning scenes that I wanted to do , some ships to finish and I want to do more work on the finish of Capt. John. Over winter ..... I'd like to do a big relief carving for the end of my garden shed and I have this ship I have in mind for a large model and a statue I'd like to try of a sailor I read of.

Lots of ideas, lots of wood, lots of tools, and plenty of time!

Bob

Afternoon Bob and Keoma,

I am sitting around waiting on the rain. Ike is supposed to pass directly over us; but, has been downgraded to a tropical storm. Luckily, we live on the side of a mountain and don't have to worry about flooding.

The good side of all of this is that I have plenty of time for carving. Right now I am working on a life-size peregrine falcon. It is a Marlen Downing design altered somewhat. I am carving it with the toes/talons of the left foot peeking out from the feathers and grasping the cliff face. I want it to appear as if the bird is about to push off the rock and take flight. The talons will be made separately and inserted into the feet. Before too long I will be ready to start burning feathers.

August production were two antique style, Red brested Mergansers, one European style Father Christmas, two Charicatures, one is a golfer, one is a surfer. All still need painted. Plus a Navy charicature, and three or four pieces for a nativity, plus a couple of other carvings
for Christmas; plus whatever will go the gallery that carries my work.

Never enough time; that and honey do list and preparaing for winter. Oh yeah, and work a ful time job.

Awesome work Bob, Keoma and Paul. I started a new Santa this morning and screwed it up and chunked it so will cut some more blanks out and try it again

I am starting on Christmas stocking hangers and a couple of ornaments that I never got to last year due to a sprain to my carving hand. I'll have pictures closer to completion.

Well it's good to see everyone really enjoying themselves at carving. I just started to design a clock face to look like crystal snowflake, the body will be a snowman... tophat and scarf, with corncobb pipe. Skip

I have completed four more walking sticks, pictures to follow, and have decided to try something larger.
I have a mid-sized piece of driftwood that I am attempting a wood-spirit on.
I'll post pics of the work in procress, soon.

I'm still cleaning up my Paulownia stick (see thread.) I'm stuck on an Aspen stick, the Cougar looks like a Chihuahua and I'm struggling with an eagle on it.

Bob, Keoma nd Paul, doing wonders in wood as usual.
