Default :Yes Honey:

Yes honey, I remember that cold winters night when you and our son lost your lives. It was to be our first baby boy and we was naming him Tommy that would bring us such joy.

Old Granny and the other mid wife, was there to help you bring him into our lives but I lost you both on that cold winters night.
Every Sunday after church,I walk down to the cemetery to see you and little Tommy who I loved so much. I kiss your head stone then lay a new carved toy on his little grave, that I just carved for him the other day.

I walked down by the stream the other day where as children me and you played. We would take off our shoes and the water was so cold but I told you even then,I will love you till I grow old.
Yes I remember honey, the big beech tree where I carved our initals and a heart to show the world how much I loved thee.

Yes honey I remember as I look at the stars at nights when its late, when I leave this old world,I'll see you and baby Tommy waiting for me at heavens gates.

:YES I REMEMBER HONEY:

This was a old I mean old board I should have thrown away,it was totally black and rotten with a hole all the way through it but cleaning it front and back I could see and feel it still could be carved.

I dont know what type of wood it is,hard in places and soft in others but I was able to carve the old man with the tree behind him in it. Just something to do the other day and I hope you might like it. I know this isnt a beech tree, they are lighter in color and with all the white in his beard,it would have been to much thus the darker tree behind him is better.
Behind my grandmothers house which is still there out in the forest,I use to play in that stream and did carve my name in that beech tree on the hill when I was a young boy. Love to see it.

Its 4 5/8 wide,22 inches long,painted with acrylics.

Your thoughts or comments are always welcome.

Thks' Forrest

P.S.This is "only" a story I wrote to fit this carving. Some had PM'd me about this. Thanks'

There is a big old beech tree behind my grandmothers house that has my name in it.

Another excellent carving Forrest. You did a great job of capturing the emotion in his face. Great story as well, and I was relieved to read it was just a story. Thanks for sharing.

Forrest you this one right....when I read the story it was so sad,...that I had to go do something before I broke out in tears. You got the emotion in this one again...., and if you show this....the story must be with it. I would write it on old paper, rub a little dirt on it..burn the edges,...and spill a little bit of water to make the paper appear aged. Forrest this is the number one reason artist do what they do...to try to provoke emotion and memory....this is outstanding. Way to go ole buddy!!!
