...I got an old Feather Etcher, that's getting kinda weak in the power dept. I got it cheap about 20 years ago, didn't ever use if for etching feathers, just to burn in my name on the bottoms of my carvings and to emphasize some parts of the carvings, you know, like hair, and wrinkles around the corners of eyes, etc. Don't want to have to pay an arm and a leg for it, but I do want it to be able to utilize the plug in tips. The ones I have are just the tips, not the whole corded tip and hand piece. Last edited by Dull Knife; 10-31-2009 at 01:06 PM. Reason: a comma snuck in where it doesn't belong |

If you're wanting to upgrade your wood burner, but don't want to spend lots, I'd suggest the Colwood Cub. I've had mine for 15 years or so and love it. I have one handpiece that has a fixed tip (it's the one that I use the most), then have another handpiece with 6-8 removable tips. I enjoy burning with a light touch and the electronic dial allows you to burn hor or just barely burn. You can go directly to their website to see all the choices you have. Or order it from your friendly, neighborhood carving supplier. Donna T
