Default WormyChestnut Turkey

This jake which is a male turkey but not grown yet.I carved him in a wormychestnut board that is 75-80 yrs old. I love carving in this beautifull wood but it has its draw backs. You can be carving in a area which is stone hard then cut again and hit softer wood.

I first stained this wood then add'd some colors to it,Id like to have left it as just the old wood but colors sell!

From the base to the top of the old tree its, 10 1/4 inches.

The turkey is,4 X 5 inches. Stained and painted with acrylics.

Want be too much longer till we will have turkeys on our tables for Thanksgiving! I like how my mtn wife can cook and and her dressing is out of this world.....I use to think I made a good dressing?Cant hold a candle to hers.

Hope you might like this jake and your thoughts or comments are always welcome. Thks' Forrest

That is a phenominal fowl! I was given some wormy chestnut not long ago and have been wondering how it would carve...I really like this. Great job Forrest! You sure know how to make a piece of wood come alive!

Hi Forrest,

Awesome. I can't believe how fast you carve and paint. Very productive.
