Default woodspirit video

I se that some have posted about Allen Goodman`s video and I have to agree It is a very good video in my humble opinion. I carved these the next two days after getting the video. The way he does the eyes is so easy and to me the results are excellent.I think that anyone just starting out could not go wrong getting it.

I also did a couple of walking sticks. On the handle I did some leather braiding w/ kangaroo lace and a 6 byte turks head knot on the end of the loop. I'd like some opinions on the braid and knot. Its quite a bit a work to make these and was wondering if everyone thinks it worth putting this work into these sticks. As I am new to this, I really don't know what is the norm, I suppose like everything it depends on how much you want to put into them

Hey there Northwind, them's some mighty fine lookin wood spirits, looks like you followed Allen to the "T" on your carving. Good for you. I'm just getting ready to tackle one myself. I sure like the idea of the green poplar sticks, I've got a field with hundreds of them, guess I'll get busy and harvest a few for sure. I sure would like one of those reciprocating outfits he uses in the video, maybe santa will come my way. I really like the look of the little fella in the back ground in one of your pix, it's obvious to me, you've got this carving thing under control
