Default Woodspirit Eyebrow Experiment

'Woodcarving is an ever ending learning journey'....Additionally, I try to tweak my carving knowledge ith something gained from every new carving project.

With that said, my goal on this last woodspirit just completed, was to focus on the eybrow itself, the plan is to incorporate the 'rough exterior bark' as the actual 'end-tips' of each eyebrow.

A close up pic is posted is our trail site in the woodspirit album.

I'm going to start a second one today, I think I need more 's' style cuts or more curvature to the eyebrow hair lines themselve.

Wow! I like that and what a great carving . I have been thinking of trying some Oak leave shape for eyebrows. Like your idea better. Mike

Good carving Bill! I like the eyes too, did you use a gouge? I see a shine on the dark area?

As usual Bill a great carving love the eyebrows. I try to experiment with different eyebrows some times I make them big sometimes small and one thing I do from time to time is give them a Brook Shields eyebrow (unibrow) one complete eyebrow (Oops I sure hope she doesnt read this thread) I call it the Neaderthal look. Keep up the great carvings always love to see your work.

I love that spirit!! And the eyebrow treatment. I've got to get some of my own on film and post them so we can compare this thin cottonwood bark we are using.

Have you tried relief carving santas on it yet? I am using the short wide , straight pieces for this. I cut off one end so it can stand and carve the Folk santa on the face of it. I try to leave some of the bark showing on the outer edge of ht ecarving as an outline so to speak. Whittler
