Default wooden pocket knife

OK, at carving club meeting a guy had a folding pocket knife made completely out of wood - yes, all wood (even the blade). It was fully operational and looked liked the real thing. He just smiled when we asked him how it made the knives. Anyone out there know how this is done and willing to share. The knives were the keenest thing I've seen in a long time. Thanks, keep on makin' piles of chips!

I seen some scroll saw patterns for pocket knives and hunting knives at
www.Wildwooddesigns.com, but they were large wall ornaments with scenes cut in the blades.
They won't exactly fit your pocket, but maybe they would help with your plans.

Yes, I've made several wooden knives. They are usually made from one piece of wood. Here is a photo link:

There is a reprint of a circa 1930 book by Walter L. Faurot titled The Art of Whittling. It doesn't show how to make a pocket knife. but it does show with illustrations, how to make pliers and scissors without dowels or pins that work out of one solid piece of wood. ISBN 1-894572-04-1. A lot of other neat stuff as well. It is on google books but not reprinted.

Hi Pallin, I looked at ur pics. Making that knife from one piece of wood is amazing. I also like the two ball wood twisted cage and the wooden chains. You are way better than I doing that sort of thing! Thanks for showing, Carl

"Whittling and Woodcarving" by E.J. Tangerman also has a section on this type of whittling. Unfotunately, I loaned my "home copy" to the new guy at woodcarving club Tuesday so do nt have the chapter or page.

Tangermans book, Chaptor X, Joints - Hinge and Pivot; pages 100-105.
Check out figure 212 on page 104.
There are also kits that can be had, but have metal pins.
Name is a coincidence!
