Does anyone make wooden jewellery, such as pins. brooches, earrings, etc.? I've looked for references on it, but so far have found very little. It seems to be learn-by-doing endeavour, sort of like the remark made by Mark Twain (and I'm paraphrasing): " The man who carries a cat home by the tail learns something he could learn in no other way." Hi Stephen, I just posted a picture of some cottonwood bark pins on the carving found wood link. This picture has a couple more pins on it. These were just all made from Art's own design. Art does have a stamp rose, cowboy and eagle that he designed and we had made up many years ago. He didn't do the step by step pattern though. I also have some very tiny cowboy boots that another carver made and gave to me. Guess that doesn't help you though! Good Luck, will keep thinking on this for you! Dorothy & Art/akathebarkguy |

I just did some internet searching for what you were asking on the wooden pins and jewelry. I guess it depends on what type you are wanting to make. The WCI has the book "Carving Caricture pins and Bolos' by Gary Batte. I also found on the net a book of "Carving pins" by Mary Finn. Not sure if any of this helps? Dorothy & Art |

I just finished this traditional Hawaiian fish hook necklace known in Hawaiian as the makau, the fish hook pendant stands for everything that is good and promises its wearer prosperity, strength and good luck. (2.25" curly maple) Bill ^v^ |

Look up Donna Menke, she does quite a few pins and I know she has kits and maybe a book out. I think she has been in the magazine with projects before. I use my odd bits and pieces and make Santa / Snoman pins. Quick to work up and fun to do.
