Wooden Carving

Hi everyone My name is Stephanie, and I have this wooden carving that I got when my Grandmother past away six years ago. It has just been sitting in my closet and I came accross it and decided I would try to research it a little, but I am not having any luck. I do know that is is from Thiland, I am not sure on the wood although I also received her solid Teak dinning room table from Thiland also, so that would be my guess on the wood. I know that my grandparents were stationed in Thiland I belive in the 70's so that is when they would have purchased it. It measures 20X40 and it is pretty darn heavy, so I am sure it is worth something, but if anyone has any information on what it might be worth or how I would be able to research it more that would be greatly appricated.

Hi Stephanie: I saw many carvings like yours on my trip to Thailand, and I bought a couple to ship back to the U.S. I doubt that it is worth much, since they have many carvers who only carve for the tourist markets and they work for next to nothing by our standards. Most of their carvings are teak, and if it's as heavy as you say, it's probably teak. I posted some of my carving photos from my trip on our gallery.
