Default Woodcarving Competition (on the beach)

Hi Gang,
Next week I am off to Campbell River, Vancouver Island, British Columbia for a carving competition on the beach for a week. The competition is held at the end of June each year. There are 32 carvers from around the world invited every year and I was lucky to be invited again this year. The town supplies the logs usually either Red Cedar or Douglas Fir you carve right there on the beach for five full days 7am until dark if you want and the best carving at the end of the five days wins. Last year was my first invite and I had a blast and if invited I will make the pilgrimage every year.
For any of you that are interested the web site is www.crshorelinearts.com it is something a little different and you want to see some really talented carvers have a look at some of the carvings from last year and previous years.
Just thought that it might be of interest to some of you.
Colin

Colin,

Boy I spent 1/2 hr looking at all those pics plus I bookmarked it to review this years pics down the road. Looks like its alot of fun, I wouldn't mind just being a spectator for a couple of days. I hope you place again this year, and have you given any thought to this years piece yet or is it something that will just 'come out' when its time? Bill in NY 'coffeeman'

Colin, very interesting site, it just amazes me, the size of the carvings you do!! I just finished my 'tallest' one yet, 12'! Definitely a midget compared to your work!!
Best of luck this year, have a wonderful time and I hope you 'win big'! Callynne

Colin,

I'm jealous, what a way to spend a week. That looks like it would be a blast.

Have fun and good luck!!

Chris

Don't forget! For the best success on the beach, put the potato in the FRONT of your swim suit.......
