Default Wood carving sites of interest in Washington, D.C.?

I will be visiting Washington D.C. on Friday. I plan to go to the Smithsonian. Any things to see there, or elsewhere, relative to wood carving, in D.C. that I should try to see?

I may not have time to see everything but I hope to cram a lot in a short day!

Thanks

Bob L

The Smithsonian consists of several major museums. Perhaps the most popular is the Air & Space Museum, followed by the Natural History Museum. You could easily spend more than a day in any one of them. I don't remember any woodcarving related material there - perhaps in the buildings themselves?

The (relatively) new Native American Museum on Independence Ave., has quite a few carvings. Well worth the time to visit. [it's about 4 blocks from my office...]

The Native American Museum is certainly worth anyone's time. And, if you're at all interested in duplicating any Native Am. arts, its a place full of inspirations. I visit it every time I'm in the DC area. Don't know of any other sites of interest to woodcarvers in the area. Wish I did.

I'm not sure it's really a "place of interest", but Colonial Hardwoods in Springfield, VA, has lots of neat wood...
