Default Wood Carving Repair

I'm looking for someone who can repair a animal wood carving my father sent from oversees. I live in the Northern Virginia area. Any recommendations at reasonable pricing.

Hi Nvanesko, welcome to the group, I would use a good yellow wood glue.

Al Archie has the right idea. Can you post a photo of the piece and or a shot of the area in need of repairs. If not..can you accurately describe what needs to be done ,,,is it cracked or are pieces missing that need to be recarved and added? Is it split or splitting?
Naming all the glues in the world serves no purpose if you don't know what needs to be done. And if it is cracked or split adding epoxy or yellow glue will do nothing for the piece.

As a note, even if it is teak ,yellow glues work just fine as they do on most any wood surface.I've done considerable work with teaks and never had a problem in even massive glue ups. Cleaning with acetone can help with some oily type woods though.

And your actual reason for posting is to find someone to do the repairs,,not so much how to do it yourself correct?

Cool Re: Wood Carving Repair

u may try thin sheets 3/16 inch of modeler clay be real carefull when aplying to both sides of the piece. make sure some of it is on the body of the piece pinch litely together this will help support the small pieces when carving and be very carefull when removing the clay .when done if u heat the clay w/ a hair dryer it will make it softer to remove, hold your mouth just right and hope, the small pieces don't break [hint] u can spray the small pieces w/ cooking oil,,,just the small pieces [tail ect...]to keep the clay from sticking to that piece ,hope this may help??? cooking oil shouldn't hurt the painted surface if it's painted u don't say??
