Default Wood Burning

I tried to wood burn my carving the easy way. So I put it in my burn barrel, and when the fire went out, there was nothing left. Does anybody know why?? :-/

Yes, I assume you are using basswood; a relatively soft wood that leaves nothing behind.
Next time, carve a denser wood like oak or maple, there will be lots of ash remaining after woodburning.

You could try iron wood. Iron doesn't burn very well.
