Default I won a ribbon...

Youpi... my first one.

But I don't even know yet which one... probably 3rd place, maybe 2nd, place, 1st place ??? nah, that would be too much...

The problem is that I couldn't be present at the Wood Carving Show (in Montreal, Quebec) last week-end, and a friend wood carver in the Club I'm in took my piece to the show for me. The ribbon is still in the box with the woodcarving and I will get them next saturday. And it's not him who re-packed my carving in the box as there were many pieces to take care of for the Club that he doesn't know or remember which one it is.

Pictures will come this week-end when I get it back at the Club reunion.

But I had to let you know... even if I didn't have a lot to post lately... too busy with home renovations :-(

It should help me to stay motivated for a few months...

Gilles

Thanks guys...

Btw, it can't be best of the show, first because it wasn't presented in the open or expert category which were the only ones used for the best of the show judgment. And second, my teacher of a caricature class I followed last year presented 3 very good pieces in these higher categories last week-end and didn't win any ribbon. As he is more experimented than me, I wouldn't expect to compete against him and win a ribbon if he didn't win any. I am very motivated. but can also stay realistic here. I would be thrilled to compete againt him, like a goal... but not so soon... later maybe... My goal anyway is not to get better than anybody or everyone, but to get better everytime, and learn from every piece that I will make, and still have fun doing it.

The piece I submitted is the same I submitted this summer at our local show, but I added a few details I didn't have time to finish this summer, and it wasn't the same kind of judgment this summer, which was more like a public choice, not a real judgment with real judges.

So it means a lot more for me to have won a ribbon this time.

Gilles

Congratulations Gilles; As others have said, I've seen your carvings and I'm not suprised that you have won a ribbon. I'm betting that it will be for 1st place.
