Default Witching stick~

I was talking with my wife who is from the mtns,she said her granny knew men and women that could find water with a folked stick! They was called Witches{women} or Dowsers{men}

They walk around holding a forked stick by the handles and the straight end out,then when the straight end dropped downwards pointing to the ground. Sure enough water was there under the ground.It was called,:Dowsing for water:

I read on line,this isnt something new its been going on in Europe & America since and before the 15th century and theres people that still hunt for water in this manner today. I had a few forks from some branches where I used the sticks for making walking canes and thought,I would just make me a witchn stick--lol

Course mine has a old druid,bear,squirrel,coon and a rabbit on it.

Just thought Id share about a Witching Stick. Any one know a Dowser??

{HEYyyyyyyyyyyyy Im one?No thats dowsing as in dabbling in paint-duhh=Tn

There was an ol' timer in my area that used a witch to locate water for folks. He would be within 5 feet on his estimated depth of the well when water was struck. Pretty amazing!

Yep, my dad could do it, he called them "Water Witches" and Dowzers...I can take a bent brass or welding rod with a 90 bend in it and find the water lines in the yard LOL, but could never do anything with a stick...but carve on it!

My Dad could also do it and it even worked for me a couple of times. He'd use a piece fo willow and when they were building their place up here on the lake back in the 50's and looking for a place to put the well he "witched" it and they struck water 150' foot down. Funny, but I was just over at my Mom's yesterday and the guy next door who just bought the property had a professional well team come out and drill and they didn't find anything until 350' down and they were only 75' from my folks well. Should have gave me a call!!!

My brother in law is a dowser, but he doesn't broadcast the fact..in fact he has only done it for himself and family. He uses the bent brass rods. Seems to work.

My parents used a Water Witch to find out the best location for a well on their property back in the 70's. That person used a hazel twig that was forked.

My dad did it using two coat hangers wires with the 90º bends in them but only after the real Water Witch did the work. I've tried it a time or two since then but never anything serious.

Lets hope the deeper well doesn't drain your Moms well! I have heard of that happening!
