Darn pictures didn't appear first 'round. I guess that they expired while waiting for me to write all that text! Got 'em there now.

Fantastic!!!! I'm glad you didn't read what I had to say before the finish. Linseed or tung oil either one will darken a bit and make the grain pop for you.But they each give a slightly diferent tone to it. I am constantly changing or experimenting with wood finishes looking for the one that does what I want with the project I am working on. Final coat on all walking sticks is poly no matter what is under it to protect the stick from the eliments. For canes I use tung oil or poly just whatever suits me at the time. Game calls get hand dipped in high gloss deft. Once dry they are put back on the lathe and polished with a piece of denim clothe to get a high shine glassy look to them. This is to satisfy the customer that wants the wood showcased .They want something the other fellow doesn't have and a way to show it off.Whittler |

Wow, the paint does make the difference! Nice that it doesn't cover the tool marks, just accents and heightens the carving. It really makes a dramatic difference. Well done son!!! Bob

OUTSTANDING! Like it with the varity of greens. I agree, Green is my favorite color either but "Boy" did it make a difference to your Cane. Well, I guess if it was any other color, it wouldn't be a "Green Man" cane.

Very nice work Dave. My sis has two of my sticks and keeps bugging me to do a Green Man. I need to finish her antler thumbstick first though.

Great job! For a while I was ACTUALLY in debate about whether I liked the paint job, but now I've found that I do indeed like it. Whether I liked the carving itself was no question.
