Wichita Show -2010

The 2010 Great Plains Woodcarvers Annual Show and Sale is in the history books. Participation and attendance was down a bit this year but rain and a struggling economy can be contributing factors.
Gerald Copeland took best of show and Dave Stetson won the carving contest with Skyler Johnson coming in second. There were many fine carvings there ranging all over the block. You name it and someone had it carved.

Needless to say, we did miss some of the show regulars that showed and contributed in the past. We're looking forward to having them back next year. Well known carvers you will recognize were there including: Dave and Michelle Stetson, Phil and Vicky Bishop, Mike and Sherry Shipley, Ed Zinger, Skyler Johnson, Pat Moore. Of course we were glad to see Carol and Larry Yudis and Dale and Marge Heinecke.


Gregg Thompson did a great job of making show announcements and emceeing the event overall.

Ed- The show was great this year. There was a great variety of carvings and lot's of vendor items too. It's always a good inspiration to visit the Wichita show.

Looks like a great show, I just might hae to go next ear( to look , I obviously don't have anything approaching the quality one would need to enter). I was really impressed with all the carvings, but the two pictures tat really grabbed me were the old couple by the park bench, and the 10 foot relief carving birds of glory.
