I will say out of all the shows I have been to,Hickory ranks at the top for a show to compete at.And I would say Dayton and Dollywood's show is at the top for shows to visit .

Hey,I understand that Bob,. I would enjoy that myself but not in the cards this year. Trying to tlak the little bride in Great Bend Ks in June with the Bishops and Mr Bowers. However, we are slated for Elk city again and have other things going on throughout the summer. Our trip to Australia has been postponed due to things there and here at home getting in the way.
So, The Bishop's June in Great Bend would be a nice one but,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I would like to try other instrutors but, none close by that I have found.
Hope to see you and Your lovely wife at one of the shows or back at Elk City
again. Maybe this time, I will pay more attention on who is there.

Lynn. I don't know if this helps or not but have you ever tried to ask an old timer like Tom Wolfe or some other carver of his stature for info.I have spoken to him and is a very nice man and has been everywhere for carving events.

Desiree would be a good source of info also. She's more traveled (recently) than Tom.

While we (Lynn and I) may share some reasons for going to shows, I don't think our MAIN reasons for going is the same. I care nothing about selling and very little about winning any awards. Heck, our main reasons for carving CANNOT be the same. I use carving as stress release from work. I'm not saying that one day (health permitting), my priorities won't change, but right now carving is an escape for me.

The reason for noting these^ differences, is that each of us are individuals and even though we share an art, we each enjoy it for different reasons. Same for shows.....what one person will like about a show, another will dislike.

Also - Thanks for the "plug" Mark....

I could not of said it better Mitchell. The competition thing does not interest me but if I were a carver like Lynn and retired Why not make a few extra bucks.I have been an electrician for 25 years, if I could make a living woodcarving I would drop my wire strippers in a minute.
