Default Who's it?

Carving a good face is hard enough but I have found that carving a face to look like a particular person is a real challenge !
I carved this face to look like a fairly famous person (in some circles). He has such distinct facial features that I thought that it would make it easier to carve a likeness of him. Wrong!

This subject is an intelligent and a very admired person. The more you learn of him the more he is admired. I'm probably sticking my neck out, but, can you tell whom I have intended this carving to resemble?

I have included two different lighting sources.....not that either makes the carving appear more like the person that I intended

That is a great carving! I'm really impressed with the realism, especially the eyes. To be honest...even with the name, I had to look up who he was. Awesome either way!

Wow, that's impressive, Millard! I can't even draw faces, let alone carve them. You have reached a level of realism that is far beyond the scope of most carvers.

Hi Cotton,
Wow! You have carved one impressive face. It almost looks waxlike.
Great piece,
Jim

Thanks for your comments, all. Lynn, I chose him to try to carve because of his distictive facial characteristics thinking that the sum of the parts, the eyes, smile lines, wrinkles, long upper lip, etc. would equal a likness of Krauthammer's face....guess it does...sort of......( voice trailing off in an unconvicing manner)
