Oh Alice! I don't know which I like best ... that Nose! or those Toes! He's just great and a big grin for me. Thanks for posting!!!! What is the base of the sculpture ... is that black walnut, it has a beautiful central swirl?

The ball on the spiral is great! You can see the motion! The short fellow...is there anything else we should know? He/She looks like they could make a movie out of the little charactor! I may have seen one many years ago under my bed! Tell us the story...is it a Tommyknocker or a gremlin or what? I was fascinated by the teeth! Very very interesting carving! Was it carved out of a burl?

Susan,
Thanks glad you like her. Your pattern started her and your help inspired her.

Rales your suggestion was right on. It made all the difference.

Alice,
I love the Cat. It's the one from Alice in wonderland isn't it ?
Nicely done.

Ward if your seeing things like that under your bed... I strongly suggest you cut back on the Jack Daniels ! LOL

Susan I am glad you liked my carvings, the sculpture itself is Mountain Ash it is one piece, the base I am not sure I brought it with me from West Virginia it has a beautiful grain to it and I wish I had loaded my car full of it, My "Friend" is spalted Birch and he has hair sticking out of his nose,
Thanks for all the compliments from this board I appreciate this because everybody is so talented and I have seen some beautiful work here and thanks Susan for starting this interesting link

Alice: Yes, I think the nose hairs are what attracked my eye! Great detail.

Shamrock: I have a lily pond that your dragonfly is welcome to come, visit, and even settled down for the rest of his/her life. That is very fine work on the wing structure, delicate sodering!

I have set aside my relief landscape for a few days. It was just too hot and humid to work in the shop this week. As I need to do some more major rough out and I don't want the studio floor covered 2" deep in chips this one will have to wait until there is a break in our weather. So instead, here's my evening carving fun. He will become a walking stick topper eventually. I think I have don a lot more sanding, riffling, and corner crisping these last couple of days then carving ... part of the process.

For those of you that have enjoyed stopping by this thread, reading the posts and Ohing and Ahing at all the great work I want to again extend the invitation to join us!!!!

Grab your camera or go to your scanner and let us see what is currently on your work bench. As all threads do, this one has expanded itself to include (so far) carving, turning, woodworking, and anything else that you might do!

If you don't have something going right now how about posting a piece or three that show your style or favorite theme. This is a great chance and a good place if you haven't posted to the forum before.

To everyone that has joined in already .... THANK YOU!

Susan
