Wow! this is a fun thread.
Gene: Neat-O! chain gang maybe?
Greg: Very impressive horse and big horn. Glad you showed the tools you use too.
Jim: Yea, Leroy needs a girl friend. Personally, I am afraid to even try to carve a girl...unless she'd have a beard. Yep Jim, I tend to go fast! Each of the refrigerator magnets take about 10 minutes whittlin.
Kathy: Great start of Marks Santa ornament. I need to try one of those.
Doug: As usual, it's a fantastic cypress knee carving...
Susan: Thanks for startin this thread. Practice sticks are super way of preparing oneself for the actual project. I am sure your stick will be excellent.

Here are a few carvings I have just finished. I have been out of carving for about 20 years and just started back into it.

Hi Susan: This seems like deja vu all over again, but I'm doing a couple of letter openers, like the ones I did about 8 years ago. I made a bunch out of butternut and gave them to family and friends for Christmas. The next year, I started on spoons and did seven years of them. It's appropriate we are on the WCI message board, since the zebra wood I used for these 2 pieces I bought at the WCI Open House. Mike

WOW!
I am so humbled to be around such great talent, I hope to someday be as great as you all are. Practice, practice, practice!

Here is a shot of what I'm up to....

On the left is a wood spirit I guess. I bought a copy of Susan's, Carving The Wood Spirit Face, ebook. What a wealth of info that is. My first attempt at it. In the middle is my current project, one of Mark Gargac's Santas. The last, on the right, is a Shelf Elf I did without any real idea of what I was doing. Saw picture, thought it looked great and went after it. Once I get the Santa done I'll get them all painted.

Tom...you really getting those Santas done in 10 minutes ...WOW, that's fast!

Gene ... That is a wonderful display of your mastery of posture! A big grin here.

Tom ... I'm not sure which I like the best. It's a tough choice between the book reading wizard on the mushrooms or the Santa Ear Rings that you are showing on your Picture Trail ... Hmmm! Very hard choice ... Hmmm ...

Dschumsk ... Glad to hear the you are back to carving. If these are some of your first works this time I do believe we will be seeing a lot of great work off of your table. That snowman is welcome to find a home on my Christmas tree any time.

Feb ... The Santa is great but that cross and dogwood love spoon on your Picture Trail is just stunning.

Rymann ... Whoa! That is some beautiful fretwork inside those spoons. The zebra wood was a perfect choice to add color. I especially like the little touch of the set of overlapping leaves on one side of the design. Very nice!

OK Thor ... I'm blown away ... Who here on the board can compete with the particular "wood working" project ... Whoa Woman!!!! You are intricately chip carving all of the roof rafters, right?

Susan

(Who here on this thread used the word humbled ... very appropriate with everything you guys are showing.)

Susan - thank you starting this thread so we can all share our projects in one place like this!

All I can say about the pieces here is Wow, wow & WOW!!!

I've finished some of the christmas cards I' making (they can be seen at the Pyrography section I've also completed some small Christmas ornaments to be used as part of the Christmas wrapping. I'm also working on a box shown here partly done - lots of work left to do. The christmas cards and this box are all from Susan's site - love them of course.

So here are pics of the ones I haven't posted.

This truly is a great thread and I am truly humbled by the caliber of talent being shown!

Lindy
