Default Weekly buddy carving meetings

For the last several months 4 of us have been meeting once a week to carve, visit and learn from each other and generally just spend an enjoyable day doing what you like. I'm firmly convinced this is one the very best ways to learn carving and related skills not to say anything of learning a new line of BS. Two of us are from Texas. Need I explain BS more?......I digress. Carving with a few buddies provides the means to learn and push your skills further than you might. One may do nose's different, one may paint different, one may have a different tool you never seen, another may be full of..........advice?, yet another may show you what can be done by just having the driving will to carve. Also communication between others keeps your social skills up to date, well some of us anyway. If you are fortunate enough to be close to a few carvers, as we are, I recommend you give it a try. Don't worry about not knowing each other well. If you all like to carve it will happen, so much so you'll look forward to the next meeting.

No body around here carves. Some In Bartlesville Ok, Coffeyville Ks and Independence Ks. All within driving distance but,,,, no one wants to. I even told some of them I would rake a shower on that night.

Glad you can get together with some more carvers Bob. Doesn't appear that any wants to do that with in 25 miles of here.

Well, I do have the little bride who carves with me sometimes.

She is right handy carving up deer during deer season. Allows me more time to hunt than cutting up the deer I have already shot..LOL

That is great Bob. I go to my club meets every other week but would love to meet more and carve with others.

Hi Bob, when carver's get together to carve whether 3 or 23 it's a party. I'm told our carving club which meets 2 times a month started with 4 carvers now we are 46 carvers. Enjoy your time spent together and the friendship it brings.

There are no carvers near me either but when we lived in Williams Lake we had a group that got together every monday night and I sure do miss that, almost makes me want to move back. One of the girls comes down here once a year and we spend a few days carving and visiting and carving some more, I sure look forward to it.Maybe I will have to advertise to teach just to get people interested and make some carving buddies!!

backporchcarver,
Ron and I had talked for over a year about getting together for an carving session but never did. One of us had just moved in town and was a beginning carver. He joined our club to learn more about how to carve and really wasn't making much progress and about to drop out. Two of us suggested he wasn't going to learn to much coming to the club business meetings and the other monthly 1 1/2 to 2 hour carving meeting wasn't really a hands a "how to" session that he needed also it wasn't a long enough session. SOooo, we decided to meet once a week until he could learn something about doing faces. One more carver decided to join us to help and now it's a group. Turns out we also enjoy pokking each other with a sharp stick also, imagine that. To continue.... not only are we carving but other things pop up each week to further our carving skills and of course, as I said, we continue to build our BS skills. Of course no politics enter into our conversations..............riiiiiight.

Bob you forgot to mention the one member that has to do his honey doo's before we know what day we can play. But I better be nice because he is usually my ride. We do have allot of fun and we do still go to the club meetings. But we also learn more from our small group and also about each other which is kind of scarry.
