Carved a handle for an old kitchen knife from some scrap pine. I know it was not the best wood for the job but I used what was available. Question is how do I waterproof the knife handle to stand up to washing. Guess it doesnt have to be food grade as it will not be in contact with food. Would prefer a clear finish which will show the beautiful grain of the wood. Thanks Cheers Ron |

Any exterior polyurethane/varnish (i.e....Miniwax) will work. Just don't soak the knives or place them in the dish washer.
