They are very good blades Sean, and a great inexpensive way for a beginner to try some different shaped blades before he buys more expensive makes. I never liked the feel of the round handles, so I mounted them in homemade handles when I first started carving. Time to experiment. Have fun, and carve safe, Tom |

I have a set I basically put together myself over time. I bought a basic kit and then added several blades (I almost have all of them). I use the bent blades for carving spoons and they work great. I have used the other blades as well, but it is easier to just grab one my razor knives. They are well worth the money. You may find that a fixed blade knife is better in the long run for most of your carving, but we have carvers here who use utility knives and do amazing work with them. To make a long story short, it all a personal preference. Ed

do the blades resharpen fairly well? thank you ever so much for the info. I think I will go and get the kit. It's a fairly good way I think for me to start out with different blade shapes inexpensively. sean |

Sean, Some of the inside curves are a little tricky, but the blades themselves will sharpen, and hold an edge just fine. Try the handles first, and see if they feel good to you. If not make your own. They are fairly easy. Tom |

Sean, Look at some of the tool sited, and just pick a couple of designs, and try them. I like mine about 5 1/2 inches long, but hands vary a lot, so that is where you can customize your to fit your hand. I have one posted under tomz new razor knife you can take a look at that, and go from there. Cut out the profile with a band saw, or coping saw, and then shape to a fit that feels good. Tom |

I agree, they are fine for beginners and trips to the mall (while waiting in the car) Dave PS - they come out of the package sharp and ready to use. |

Hi Sean, There are a lot of posts regarding the Warren blades. I've bought just the blades and mounted them in my own handles. Gave all of them away.

Sean... I started out with Xacto blades and did just fine. The Warren blades are light years superior to the Xacto blades so you shouldn't have any problems whatsoever!
