Default Wanna Be Humbled?

Relief carvers, wanna be humbled??? I just got my copy of Wood Carvers Supply catalog. The cover picture is of a sawmill operator relief carving. I think I'll quit carving.

If you get a chance, check it out. Absolutely amazing.

I got mine today and even said aloud...Wow, look at this! Handed it to a non-carver and they were impressed. Nice work!

It's a great piece, but it's no Cogelow. It's equally impressive though. I think that it says on the cover who carved it, someone from Canada I think.

According to the cover, it is by Norwegian Master woodcarver Rolf Taraldset.

I went to the website that given, played the DVD that he shows and at the end of it, you will see the carving of the sawmill carving in question. It is as good as they say.

Just watched the DVD on his site that is one great carver and now I know what sharp chisels are wow. Not only that but did you notice the beginning of the video how many chisels he has just on the table must be thousands of $ there alone. Never the less I think I will order his DVD really interesting to watch.

I received that the same day I received my copy of Chip Chats...both the cover of that catalog and Fred Cogelows carvings that appear in Chip Chats are at a complete different level. I would have to agree with Dylan tho, Cogelows work is at a different level. If you have not seen Fred's work in person it is worth a long drive...simply amazing.
