Hi Forrest, thanks for taking off from shoveling snow to comment on my bird. Boy are we ever getting that stuff, till 7.00 tonight and later ,high winds. Yes walnut is not my favorite wood to carve, but one of my favorites to look at after finished. Hope I can pull it off. I'll just keep taking off wood till I correct all my mistakes. I may end up with a bird the size that you carve.Ha,Ha. Go easy with snow shoveling Ole Friend. Merle

Wow, beautiful piece Merle. Love the use of contrasting parts of the wood, sets off the bird in all it's glory! Great job. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Bob

Hi Sharon, No it isn't 1 piece and if it had to be I wouldn't be doing it. Beautiful wood but for me it's a Bear carve. It is 4 pieces, 2 wings, body and a tail. The grain runs in 2 directions, hope that works out OK. Thanks for showing interest in my bird, now you can get back to your coffee. Ha,H. Merle

Hi Joy, I used wood glue for the wings and tail and seems to be holding great. Thank you for your kind words. Merle
