Great little carvings Bob, No matter where they were carved. I do the same thing, but I bought one of those battery powered bug suckers to pick up the chips. The little sucker has a fan and sucks up the chips into a small bag. The whole thing is only bout 12 inches long. Since I carve very small, and end up with very small chips, it works fine. For the past month I have been carving little Santa heads on a stick, and breaking them off to give to the kids that stop to watch. Tom H

Thanks folks. The poem is one I wrote for the Woodcarver's Poetry Contest. It didn't win there but when I saw this thread I thought it fit the situation fairly well.

That's a great poem! Fits the bill, sure as shootin'!

Colin....that knife is one of Rick's specials! It is the sweetest cutting little thing, that fits right into the curl of my hand and slices off shavings of wood as slick as goose sh**! The wood is spalded Maple I believe.
