Default W. "Pete" Leclair website?

I tried to google Pete Leclair's website and came up with nothing.

From some of the posts I've been reading, some mentioned his website.

Does anyone know of the link?

Thanks much!

The site he used to have is gone. Link was http://caricaturecarver.ieasysite.co...carver_001.htm

It wasn't much of a web site anyway. I am not trying to be insulting to him. I am a big fan.

Thanks guys,

I looked him up on the CCA site. He uses a type of oil to coat the work before painting and I was trying to find out what he uses.

Thanks again!

Bob, he simpley uses Boiled Linseed Oil. Straight out of the can with no antiquing tint. Pete's website has been down a while but I heard he was working on a new website.

Hope this helps.

Corey

Bob,
If you don't like the smell of the linseed oil, I use Watco danish oil, natural, before I do my painting with acrylic paints. Just brush it on, and wipe off the excess, and start painting.

Hi,
check out YouTube for Pete's new video on his painting technique. He is no longer using Boiled linseed oil, hasn't in a few years. Minwax 209 dosn't have the smell and drys faster. He does add coloring.

He also has a new web site Home

and he will be teaching at the Florida woodcarvers roundup March 24-27 2010 http://webspace.webring.com/people/qj/jeodea/

I checked the ingredients of the Minwax #209 and it still contains Linseed Oil, except it is mixed with Mineral Spirit and another oil, Soybean Oil.

**** Minwax Company Inc. - Minwax Wood Finish No 209, Natural is a very thin penetrating oil finish with alkyd resins, which produces a sensual satin-gloss lustre. This finish can be sprayed with excellent results. Contains naphtha, mineral spirits and other solvents. Volatiles = 92%. Time to recoat - four to six hours. Liquid colour, clear light amber.

I was checking because I wanted to compare it to the Varathane Natural Oil finish I use, and they seems equivalent. They both use resins and Linseed Oil with mineral spirit to thin the mix.

I wonder if it smells better than the Varathane stuff which still has a Linseed Oil smell.

Gilles
