| | Virus Warning...AGAIN!! I just wanted to let everyone know that our nasty old friend is back again. I received an e-mail this morning from a member that had received an e-mail from me that I hadn't sent.
Bob, if you're reading this, I think it's time that everyone's e-mail addresses were removed from this site. I didn't have the person's address who received the e-mail from me, so it had to have come directly from here.
If a member wants to contact another we can do it through the private message feature and then take the contact out to our personal e-mail addresses if that's something both parties want.
Anyhow, just a heads up to everyone, I'm not sending you any large e-mails, so don't open any from me....or anyone else on this board without checking with them first to see if they actually sent one!! Callynne |

| | Re: Virus Warning...AGAIN!! My virus blocker gets infected emails from everyone - including you BobD - on this board, even people who have never posted one message. I get them from 'Callynne' too. But MOST of them are returned email from myself - LOL LOL. It's an enormous problem that I don't think can be solved.
I wonder why some people waste their time with stuff like that? What do they get out of it? |

| | Re: Virus Warning...AGAIN!! Or use them as carving material ??? :P I don't think it matters if you hide the email addresses here....once they get hold of your address ??? Also...your email address can be legitimately on someones elses address book and they get into their address book.....I always thought we need some kind of code to put in the subject line so we would know if it is legitimately from someone on the forum! |

| | Re: Virus Warning...AGAIN!! I think that if and when we catch them, they should be introduced to the art of making 'License Plates'!!! |

| | | Re: Virus Warning...AGAIN!! I asked this same thing several times. The problem is, it isn't someone sending the viruses, someone's computer is infected with the virus and everything they get on their computer, it automacticly sends out viruses to everyone in their address book. If someone else isn't protected that gets it, they're infessed too!
The person I get them from is in Saint Louis and has Charter for an ISP. I have contacted them close to 100 times in the past several months and it does no good, so I finally contacted the FBI and filed a complaint! Hopefully they'll make Charter see the errors of their ways!
It's easy to find where the email messages are coming from, check the header information and do a who is search on the IP address. That will tell you who their ISP is.
If anyone is interested in a 'How To' let me know, it's easier then it sounds! |

| | Re: Virus Warning...AGAIN!! I thought it was a virus in my computer too but checked it out, it isn't coming from my computer, no one in my address book receives these e-mails, only people who's addresses are here. I know taking them off won't help all us who are already listed but new members, I don't think, should have to have their addresses listed for everyone to see.
Randy, I love that you have taken futher steps to handle this problem, let us know what you find out in the future. Callynne |

| | | Re: Virus Warning...AGAIN!! Callynne one thing you can do until the board admin gets around to making 4 or 5 mouse-clicks to make the member list not viewable is to add nospam- to your email address i.e. - randy48@nospam-strobertmo.us
You won't get any email from the board or anyone hijacking the addresses unless they remove the nospam- from the address. |
