Hi, I live in Georgia. Lots of cypress knees here but no Cottonwood bark. My wife and I are thinking about flying out west somewhere for a nice vacation. While there I would rent a vehicle and go looking for cottonwood bark. Once found I would ship it home... Only problem, I don't know where to go. Obviously I would need to go to state or federal land if they allow picking up dead bark. If not I guess I need other ideas. I know it sounds crazy but I need a vacation anyway and I would enjoy looking for the bark. Any suggestions? Greg |

The cottonwood tree needs to have died for at least several years before it is easy to get off of the tree. The forests of northern British Columbia would be an excellent place to go hunting for bark, although it would be probably be quite a scenic hike from where you would be able to park your car to where you would find accessable bark

Montana is a great place to go and has plenty of cotton woods and carving clubs as well.
