Being fairly new to carving, I approach the hobby pretty much as I do my regular job. Like the other day...I actually did put a dremel router bit in my flex shaft and try it out on a scrap piece of Holly. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else, but by the same token, I wouldn't hesitate to try it again if the situation warranted it. I have about 30 years experience in my trade, and I was lucky enough to learn a few tricks from some old time carpenters. Things I wouldn't recommend anyone else to try. Such as "climb cutting" with a handheld circuilar saw. I'm not going to go into an explanation of it because even when you know how to make a cut like that, it's still kind of hairy and the only time I attempt a cut like that is when I don't have a decent handsaw. Any other stupid tricks out there? Mike G. in SC |

Lots of them,,,just don't think I would advertise them for the general public to read and consider. I don't want to be responsible for putting my lame ideas in someone elses head and have them risk injury where I was purely lucky to get away unhurt. I've done enough stupid things on my own,,sometimes I won,,sometimes I didn't...but I'll never post them on a public forum. |
