Default An unusual request

Hi all,

I have a bit of an unusual request.

I am trying to plan some combination bible study / woodcarving classes for 7th or 8th graders at our churches elementary school.

Therefore, I'm wondering if anybody has any old knives they'd consider selling me for the cost of shipping plus a couple dollars. I have 2 extra knives I can supply so I would like to find 4 or 5 more. I currently plan on purchasing 6 carving gloves for safety and honestly can't afford to buy four or five more knives at $15 - $20 per knife.

I'm not asking for high end knives like Rick makes or Cape Forge, or anything like that. What I'm kind of looking for is the basic Murphy knives that many people start with that have ended up in the bottom of the toolbox when the better tools are purchased.

Additionally, I will send the bible study / carving project layout I created to anyone who is interested, whether you can help me with a knife or not. The bible study is yours to use and modify freely. Granted, I'm not a pastor, but my goal was to take two simple bible studies and reinforce them with simple carving projects that could serve as reminders of the lessons and introduce kids to carving.

I have not conducted the class yet, but am thinking 60 to 90 minutes for each session should provide plenty of time for the bible study and carving without rushing either aspect.

I'm hoping to make this an annual event for the older kids at our school. We'll see how it goes.

If you can help or would like a copy of the bible study in Microsoft Word format, send me an email to:
mwilleson@sio.midco.net.

My old knives end up with various nephews, nieces and other kids who want to learn carving, but lots of luck. This sounds like a very good idea. Hope it works out.

Just wanted to say thank you. I have had enough folks contact me and offer the knives I need to try and get a class rolling.

I still have the bible study overview I'd be more than happy to send to anyone who requests it via email: mwilleson@sio.midco.net

Again, you've proven woodcarvers to be very generous folks.
