Default Ultimate Sharper VS> kalamazoo S1M

Hey guys, Anyone thinking about a 1' belt sander for sharpening, ought to look at the Kalamazoo S1M ,its a commercal machine thats about ten times heavier that the ultimate sharpener. it adust tracking with one knob that takes about 1 second to do and has a baldor motor ,the belt assembly is heavy duty, should last a lifetime. the motor is 1725 rpm with a 4' pully so it should turn about 1800 sfpm,
I hate sharpening on thins that go fast and it is great at this speed. i think the speed is about the same as the ultimate they say 1300 but a think its more like 1800sfpm. I bought a leather belt and some abrasive belts from Lee valley tools. The machine works great, I had to rewire motor to turn clockwise which took about 3 minutes The units sells for $189.00 and was about 14 bucks for shipping, the belts from Lee vally were about forty, but I bought extras. Love sharpening on a flat surface and the leather homin belt is awsome,
Thanks for listening. Al
