Default Twisted Cane

I got this twisted cane stick from Treeline, and started removing the bark from it with a drawknife, what is the easiest way to remove the bark where the wood twists?

They say the linoleum knives..but since I couldn't find mine, I used an old dull, cheapie throwaway gouge ha ha...it did work however, and someone said a dull knive is better as you don't scar the wood and have to sand as much...love that! Hate sanding! LOL

Sorry, Mel, I haven't found ANY easy way to remove bark from the twists and chinks! Just accept the fact you will have to take your time and whittle away at it a little at a time.

On the other hand if you can get a hold of Harry Potter, he may just have a spell he'll exchange for a new carved wand!

Does Mr. Potter have an email address? Maybe I could get his wand, that would be really handy

Hi. I got one of those sticks about a year ago from treeline. I need to get started on it. What are you going to put on the top of it? I was thinking a small hame I have would look cool on it. Keep us updated on the process of it. This might get me going on mine also. Later Gergie,

I'm going to put a Favorite Hame on it, I too got it from Treeline, currently I have most of the bark off of it and I'm going to sand it down some. I'm not sure what kind of wood the stick is though. Looks good though, I haven't decided if I'm going to carve it yet, a snake coiled around the twists would look good, but I'm doing it for my father in law and he may not like snakes.
