Default Twice as tall--eight times as big?

I have a question. Is there a way or formula to make a figure only "twice as big". I doubled the little guys height and width and ended up with the big fellow who is actually - eight of the small one. Without guessing there should be a way. If this is old hack, please send me to the appropriate post. I am trying to get a figure only twice as big in volume not twice as tall and wide. Hope there is an answer

if it was square, say 2x2x2 - that's 8 cu. Twice that volume (if I understand what you want) would be 16 cu. so cube root of 16 per side for the square - so a little over 2.5 per side ( 2.5 cubed is 15.625) If you got the true cube root the calc's below would probably be closer

using that example, it looks like if you increase each dimension by ~25%, it comes out roughly (a little under) to twice the volume.

using that formula as a test, a 2x2x3 rectangle of 12 cu in becomes 2.5x2,5x3.75 giving 23.4 (roughly 24)
