I love to carve tupelo but lost my source. I live in Utah and it's a little harder to get. Any of you carvers down South have a good source? |

Years ago I used to get carving wood from Macbeath Hardwood in Salt Lake. I don't know if they still have a variety. Since then, I've stuck to basswood and get it from Heinecke.

"Treeline" is located in Provo. They have a walk in store and sell on line.They sell Tupelo. I have gotten supplies from them on and off for years. Nice people. www.treelineusa.com

how does tupelo differ from basswood?

| It has been my experience tupelo is a little harder wood than basswood. I like working with tupelo more that basswood. It dose not fuzz up like basswood when sanding or using a power tool. I think it takes a finish better also.
