| | Re: Trout n Cedar Kathy painting on a flat surface like a canvas you can create depth with your highlights and shadows. On a relief carving as this trout, every thing had to be painted as the tops, sides and bottems of the fish, tree roots and rocks. A little bit different. I paint some mostly during the winter on canvas but I paint alot of other items now besides my carvings.
Color sells! Tell your husband, you want to paint say your whole kitchen in hot pink?? Everything in life has colors, our clothes, cars, houses, animals, the sky and this is why color is so important to people......heck,think of not haven any make-up!! Women would go crazyyyy not being able to have make up!!
Painting the trouts side colors wasnt a problem, used washes and just blended them.Painting his eye ball {its carved}was a little harder some.
Thanks for your neat thoughts and your good compliments,Forrest

| | Re: Trout n Cedar Merle!! You old hoottttt~ LOL Ive not been fishing, last time was when I took my 3 children fishing and they was young, guessing it was about 21yrs ago.
Fishing & hunting, once I left the country as a younger boy and moved to the city with my other grandmother,I never fish or hunt'd again till I took my children fishing.
Guess, thats why I try to carve & paint alot of wild life and fish!
Let me know what you caught!!???
Better yet,let me know how many you caught and are they cleaned and what time you will be frying them???? Thats the important thing to me!!
HaHaaaa Heee~ Forrest

| | Re: Trout n Cedar Forrest, ol' buddy....you did it again! My brother, who is an avid trout fisherman, would KILL for this piece!! I love how you are able to show the depth of the underwater scenery in your carvings, both in the carving and the painting....your folk-art style of carving is the best I've every seen, my friend. It makes you feel like you are right there, experiencing what's going on. Bonnie |
