Default [TreeBranch]Carvings

About this time every year I carve some relief little carvings from some tree branches that I cut off into disc. They range from 1 1/2 to 2 1/8 inches around. The main subject in the each carving are from 1 inch to 2 inches, like the turkey is in the largest one.

They are carved in mtn laurel which is a hard wood but holds small details very nicely.{2 are carved in sour wood} I mount them on other cut off disc. They are signed on the back. The bases will be semi-gloss'd and the carving will have a mate finish on them. They are painted with Acryic.

I carved 22 of theses this past wk end while listen to the football games. They are alot harder to paint for after you paint the main subject you have to paint all the edges on every thing in the whole carving for when its mounted and standing up,unfinished edges will show!

Seven of theses plus 15 more but with Santas and Christmas items on,which I will begin painting them today, they will have pretty hangers on them.

Last year I carved 42 Christmas ornaments and brought home 4. But theses little carvings I can sell twice or three times better than the price of a Christmas ornament.

Before I started carving,I never did any hoilday art work, cause to me,if you didnt sell it,you would have to hang on to it till the next year. Even now I hate haven a piece of art work with the year before date on it,course too with carvings I dont mind haven a carving when I did it like the ones my wife claims!!! LOL

I have learned in selling art work, some one in your booth will always say,OHhhhhhhhhhhh I just "LOVE" that but I really dont have any space for it! They cant say that in my booth for I have things from 1 inch to 2 ft X 2ft!

Hope you enjoy theses and now Im thrown paint on some ornaments!! LOL

Your thoughts or comments are always welcome.Thks' Forrest
