Question Tree Faces

I'm looking for ideas or instructions on carving facial features onto a tree. I'm not talking about carving a face from the wood in a tree, but making the tree appear to have eyes, a nose, etc. I'm thinking I need to carve those pieces from the bark off another part of the tree and nail them to the trunk. Has anyone done this before?

I have never seen one on here you would most likely be the first for that. I have seen some impressive cotton wood bark faces on here.

The only ones that I have seen like that are plastic resin. If it was me... I would carve it out of hardwood, and then cut into the bark of the tree and set the eyes, nose and mouth into the tree..., then seal it so bugs and virus does not effect the tree. Then paint the hard wood with a marine varnish?

I think the idea that DiLeon suggest is a stunning idea. In time the tree and bark will likely grow around the inserted wood and the result should look like the face is part of the tree.
