Default What tool do I need...

Hey everyone,

I would like to make a small rhombus shaped hole in a piece of wood I have, but I am having a hard time figuring out how to do it. I would like the shape to be no more than a quarter of an inch long.

I tried drilling a hole through the wood, and then using a dremel bit to work it out from there, but that didn't work too well. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do to make this work? Thanks.

Dan

How deep does the hole need to be? To be perfectly honest, in a case like this, I'd reach for an exacto or a 1/4"-wide skew chisel...

Is it a regular or irregular rhomboid?

The best tool would probably be a skew #1 double bevel chisel. With a fairly shallow bevel.

Another nice tool would be an offest single bevel grounding tool to clean out the bottom and corners

Depending on the depth and the size and the angles your looking for you could use a v tool .

Depending on the size of it and the depth you need, you could drill the center out with a forstner bit(several sizes could get you up into the corners a ways, then clean up with those reomended earlier.

I tried the exacto knife since that is the only thing I have at my parents house, and it worked very well. I didn't remember that they were so sharp! Thanks everyone! I will be sure to post pictures of what I'm working on when I get back to school.
